"Wow, what a retreat! We are owners/renters of U.S. property, so appreciate all the hard work that went into creating a very special “Refuge”! We loved the private beach, fun exploring, watching b-ball games! Ira was wonderful, very patient and keeps things in clean order. Thank you for a wonderful week."

"A beautiful week, just the two of us to celebrate 20 years of marriage. Ira was the perfect escort from the airport. We would have never found it without her. When our flight was delayed, she handled rearranging every thing with rental car pickup. We were greeted with a smile. Jamal cut for us the first piece of sugar cane from the plant beach side. It was awesome as we shared the experience of fresh sugar cane. We celebrated together in the peaceful tranquility of the Refuge with all our wishes for a wonderful vacation coming true."

"Thank you for sharing this wonderful jewel of a house with us. We arrived weary, bedraggled and in desperate need of a retreat, and this special place revived us and truly lived up to its name. Refuge, yes indeed!"

"We were here for lots of rain and sunshine. The house is beautiful and beach was great! We had a little difficulty finding The Refuge when we drove at night, but Ira graciously answered our lost calls on Monday night and guided us in. We had lots of fun and enjoyed all the wildlife, baby goats and baby chicks, and found lots of sea glass."

"Our family of 4 spent the week of Thanksgiving here at The Refuge (while the Northeast was experiencing its first snowstorm of the season). The villa itself is beautiful, clean, relaxing—all the comforts of home. We were content to just spend a few days here enjoying the private beach, swimming and snorkeling. Also had fun exploring the island by driving around. Took a ferry to Jost Van Dyke to visit the bubbly pool and had lunch at Foxy’s. Captain Joe from Patouche Charters took us out on his catamaran with a small group. Stopped at Cooper Island for some snorkeling, then to Virgin Gorda to visit The Baths. Definitely a highlight of our trip."

"The Refuge was super. It is the perfect distance up the hill from the beach, great views but an easy walk to the water. Loved how the house is away from the road, and neighbors are a good distance. Some of the best snorkeling we had was in Brewers Bay. We even saw a turtle. Driving on the island always felt like an adventure, the hills made it fun. Rented a 24-foot motor boat for a day and went to Norman Island and Peter Island. Relaxation unmatched. Endless Snorkeling. Fantastic sleeping accommodations. Unforgettable starry nights. Gorgeous views. Excellent outdoor showers."

"My family and I stayed at the Refuge in Tortola for spring break. We had a fantastic time at the wonderful beaches and restaurants!! I loved how we had the little beach right by our house. Everyone was so nice to us. My favorite part was going to The Baths. It was super fun and cool. I really enjoyed the great snorkeling by our house, especially when I was a stingray. I really enjoyed The Refuge and I hope to come back again."

"Beautiful house and grounds. Thank you Ira, the house is so clean. We loved being able to walk down to the beach to swim, snorkel and paddle board. There were 3-4 very calm days and few days when the surf was up!"

"We spent one wonderful week here with our family—6 adults and little 20-month old girl. It was fabulous! The Refuge is truly that, an escape and refuge away from busy city life. The beach is peeeerfect! We spent one day driving around the island, which Jamal highly recommended . . . . We also went on a hike from the Refuge to the Shark Bay National Park. It took us 1.5 hours door to door and that included hanging out at the lookout and the bat cave for 30 minutes. It’s not a difficult hike, but it has great views and vistas. The bat cave is fun and we would recommend bringing a picnic lunch there. It has a beautiful secluded view and is in the shade. . . . Other than that, we relaxed around the Refuge. We had all our groceries delivered and got assistance for Ira, Jamal and Zane (taxi driver) as needed. They are all great, and made our stay here very enjoyable. All in all, we can’t wait to come back another year! This is a great place for little kids. We could lock the doors to the pool and frolic on the beach where the baby was entertained for hours."
